nighttime songs from afar
sound and light installation année: 2017 durée: 40:00 min studio: Harvard University Studios for Electroacoustic Composition première présentation: 07. 04. 2018 , The James Turrell Skyspace, Rice University Houston
The sound and light installation 'nighttime songs from afar' for the James Turrell Skyscape at Rice University aims to take the listener on an imaginary voyage. Folk songs, prayers, and lullabies from many cultures served as models for the composition of new counterpoints. Some were recorded with Boston-based soprano Jennifer Ashe; while many others are computer-modeled voices. The tight connection between the music and the light sequences creates a temporal ritual of varying tensions and finally release.
