Since the 1980s, I have been dedicated to oil painting. In Klang-Farbe-Bewegung (1989), I projected images of my paintings onto dancers. Later, I began photographing the dancers during these projections and incorporated these still images into interactive sound panels for Tell Me! . . . a secret . . . (2007). With the dance piece Polyvision (2009), I translated this visual world into video, exploring the interplay between moving paintings and choreography.
The installation The Other Side is a collaboration with the Harvard University Dance Program. Through improvisation, Harvard students developed poses and distinctive expressions that are featured in this work.
My sincere thanks go to Jill Johnson, the director of the Harvard University Dance Program, and to the dancers showcased in the exhibit: Lauren Balbus, Irineo Cabreros, Melanie J. Comeau, Stella Gaitani, Naze-a-ru Gonzalez, Bex Kwan, Megan Murdock, Sofie Rose Seymour, Tsung-Yun Tzeng, and Rossi L. Walter.
