At the age of 14, first composition lessons at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar. From 1975 to 1984, studied organ and choral conducting at the Thuringian Church Music School in Eisenach and attended musicology lectures as a guest student at the Martin Luther University in Halle/Saale.
In 1976, prize winner of the International Composition Competition in Boswil (Switzerland). From December 1976 to March 1977, study stay at the Künstlerhaus Boswil.
In 1980/81, founded the "Ensemble for Intuitive Music Weimar" (EFIM), which was particularly dedicated to the works of the composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, who was taboo in the GDR (contact since 1970, joint rehearsals in 1991 and 2005, CD production Für kommende Zeiten, sound direction: Karlheinz Stockhausen, 2005).
Since 1986, organist of the "Liszt Organ" in Denstedt near Weimar, which he rediscovered in 1980 and had restored (1993 and 2011).
1988: Founded the "Days of New Music in Weimar", which took place 33 times until 2021.
1989: Launched "Klang Projekte Weimar" together with Hans Tutschku as an "Independent Association for Contemporary Music".
Initiator of the concert series "New Paths to Music – Paths to New Music" (since 1991) and "Klang – Rausch – Orgel" (since 2009), as well as the "Dada Decade 2012-2022". Also curator of the City and Village Church Music series in the Weimar region (1992–2023).
1996: Weimar Prize.
2023: Honorary Badge of the Thuringian Music Council.
