Part 1 – The Invisible Bell Tower – Open Air
The first segment of the installation is designed as a public sound experience for passersby. In the north tower of the Église du Gesù, loudspeakers will broadcast the chime of bells every hour. By installing an invisible bell tower where none exists, the installation sparks curiosity on two levels. Initially, people notice the presence of unfamiliar “bells.” Then, after a few days, they realize that beyond these “new bells,” the soundscape also includes a rich tapestry of tones from distant cultures.
Throughout history, bells have marked significant moments—religious celebrations, alarms, mourning, and more. They are integral to the soundscapes of cities, reflecting their diverse cultural identities. This installation features recordings of bells and chimes from around the world, inviting listeners into a sonic journey that transcends geographical and cultural boundaries. Positioned outside the church, the installation serves as a bridge to distant places, provoking reflection on encounters with the unknown and the meaning of cultural exchange.
This part of the installation has previously been presented in:

Part 2 – The Voices in the Nave – Indoors
The second installation unfolds within the vast space of the nave of the Église du Gesù. Here, numerous loudspeakers are arranged throughout the space, creating an immersive sound environment. Voices—speaking and singing in dialogue—resonate through the church, weaving together an auditory tapestry that transcends borders.
Recorded across multiple continents, these voices invite us on an intercultural journey. We follow them through their travels, prayers, chants, arguments, and conversations, immersing ourselves in the richness of human expression across different cultures and traditions.
Part 3 – The Imaginary Dialogue – Indoors
The third installation offers a more intimate and personal experience. Inside a confessional, the artist has created two interactive spaces equipped with microphones. Visitors can enter the confessional as if stepping into a moment of reflection or confession. Within this enclosed space, voices from different religions and cultures resonate, creating a diverse sonic tapestry.
As visitors speak into the microphone, their own voices are transformed and interwoven with the pre-recorded voices, blending into an evolving soundscape. This interactive element invites participants to engage in an imaginary dialogue, merging their own presence with the voices of others. Through this shared auditory experience, the installation fosters a moment of connection—between individuals, cultures, and unseen narratives.

« …Those who have reservations (or, for that matter, are allergic) towards this type of music that is so necessary for this century and so burning with contemporary vision… must absolutely go and hear Tutschku perform. You will discover a different way of thinking and making acousmatic music. Tutschku starts by creating a space pocket… The perspective speaks, the silence is eloquent, the gesture and the composition turn out to be omnipotent in conveying sense... »
