The composition object-obstacle is based on sound material recorded with contact microphones on self-built resonators. After experimenting with computer simulations of physical models—using programs such as Modalys and Genesis—my interest in coupling different vibrating bodies grew. This led to the construction of my own objects made of springs, wooden boxes, and various small components.
However, the recordings are not only intended as sound sources for further transformations but already contain musically structured sequences—the objects were played. The electroacoustic composition expands these performed gestures into a wide sonic space and combines them with synthesized sounds of physical models.
