Rituale weaves together recordings of human voices and instrumental sounds from diverse cultures, merging them into a sonic ritual. This piece emerges from my earlier compositions Rojo and object-obstacle, both of which also explore ritualistic themes.
Taking full advantage of the unique capabilities of wave field synthesis, Rituale allows sound sources to be precisely placed and moved within the audience space. As a result, the sonic entities take on a physical presence, approaching the listener in an immersive and tangible way. Each of the 32 channels carries an independent sound stream with its own distinct movement patterns.
The first version was specifically designed for the WFS system at the Ilmenau cinema Linden Lichtspiele. Subsequent adaptations have been realized for the WFS systems at the Technische Universität Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg.
